Chalwa Sound is a veteran Reggae Sound outta Münster, Germany. Founding members and selectors Sascha and F-Ranks are accompanied by MC Jah Olli on the mic. Chalwa Sound play a versatile selection of Roots, Rub-A-Dub, Conscious Dancehall, Dub and Steppers - strictly vinyl!

1991, while still in school, Sascha and F-Ranks discovered the music of Bob Marley, Burning Spear and Macka B. The following years they spend most of their money for Reggae records, building up a serious collection.

In 1999 they grasped the opportunity to host a regular dance at Münster’s well known venue TRIPTYCHON. The dance called “Reggae Attack” turned out to be one of the longest running regular dates in Münster. For 19 years, Chalwa Sound played Reggae on each fourth saturday at club TRIPTYCHON presenting artists like Ranking Joe, Michael Prophet, Earl Sixteen, Charlie P, Biga Ranx, General Levy and many more. True to the principle “Juggling is a must, we nah kill no sound!” they have played longside many sounds from Germany and Europe like Heartical, Conscious Sounds, Cultural Warriors, Irie Ites and King Shiloh.

Chalwa Sound have hosted countless dances (including three regulars), travelled all over Germany and played at many venues. They have been invited to play at festivals like Summerjam (Cologne) and Reggaejam (Bersenbrück), where they’ve become a resident at Roots Plague’s Dubstation.

More than 20 years in the soundbusiness, the passion for Reggae music is unbroken and the record collection bigger than ever.
